Did you know that 70% of the changes that clients make is based off of the relationship between client and therapist? I pride myself in practicing from a person-centered, strengths-based, and existential framework in order create a safe space for clients, validate their experiences, and provide unconditional positive regard. I use humor and warmth in sessions in order to build a strong therapeutic relationship quickly so that we can work together to achieve your goals. I am a certified drug and alcohol counselor in addition to a professional counselor.

For the past nine years, I’ve worked in community mental health, primarily with older teens and adults within the specialties of men and women’s issues, mental health, substance use disorders, adjustment concerns, and relational issues. I utilize an integrative approach to therapy in which I pull from various theories and modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (working with thoughts and behaviors), Dialectical Behavior Therapy for (mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal skills), and motivational interviewing to help you reach your goals. I also incorporate psychoeducation and skills-based approaches to aid clients in tolerating distress and improve overall emotional regulation.

Taking the first step into counseling is hard! But regardless of the time we have together on this counseling journey, rest assured that I will instill hope and plant seeds of change along your path of change.
