Friendship Lab: Social Skills Group
in Plainfield, IL
The "Friendship Lab" is designed to facilitate real-life socializing, allowing participants to use skills learned in "real-time". This group is a safe and supportive environment for middle school students, age 11-14, to develop and practice social skills over the course of 12 weeks. This format allows for ongoing skill development and integration into their daily lives. The 12-week program focuses on developing essential social skills such as greetings & partings, following rules, staying on topic in conversation, understanding social cues, and using active listening skills.
We believe in empowering participants to contribute to their own learning environment, and while participants will create their own rules, expectations of respect and confidentiality will be upheld. The curriculum will repeat at the end of each 12 week session in a slightly different manner to maintain interest and participation while providing continuous opportunities for practice and peer-led interactions under the guidance of the group therapist. Please contact our office for additional information regarding registration or program questions. We look forward to meeting you!
