Deanna L. Reed, LCSW

Taking the first step is always the hardest! Let’s walk and discover a new path together. I have worked with various issues such as anxiety, depression, grief, loss, trauma, panic and adjustment to life issues and chronic illness, and caregiver support. I have successfully treated adolescents and teens with a range of emotional and behavioral issues. I have assisted with parenting issues, ADHD symptoms, defiance and attachment concerns, difficulties adjusting, and provide strategies for emotional coping. I have treated PTSD and adult survivors of abuse. I also work with couples and families to develop better communication skills and to deepen their relationship together.

Background and Approach

I take a relational and psychodynamic approach to therapy. We explore together what symptoms you are experiencing and how this is impacting your life, your body and health, your relationships, and how they connect with past memories/experiences. We learn about the mind/body connection to gain greater mastery over the autonomic nervous system. We work to build on your innate strengths. We discover what your values are and what barriers are standing between you and the new way you wish to approach life. We explore healthy choices that will further your growth and success. My goal is to tailor my interventions to your individual needs.

I have a special interest in working with survivors of trauma and have received training for PTSD and resiliency, including EMDR, and Integrated Listening Systems Safe and Sound Protocol. I provide the support for Integrated Listening System’s at home protocols, Focus Programs, helpful for children with autism spectrum and ADHD to enhance educational and social progress. I work with couples using The Gottman Method to build new relational skills. I have a background in the expressive arts and incorporate this into my practice with adolescents and teens. I also utilize mindfulness with an understanding of how the mind and body work together on issues incorporating the neuroscientific theory. I have an interest in Lacanian Psychoanalytic praxis which influences my work.

I believe that the more you know and understand yourself, the better equipped you will be to make your own powerful and lasting changes and to find your path of joy and happiness.
